Fjærlandsfjorden

The Fjærlandsfjord is an idyllic pearl almost without inhabitants today. Until recently it was a thriving nerve which tied several farmsettings together. The mountainfarm Tenningsåsen was reckoned as a big farm and you can see it clinging to the steep mountainside. To get to school they had to walk over the mountain to Eitorn, and to get to the merchant they had to climb 300 metres down the steep side, then row a boat for 4 kms. Hammersnes, Romøyri, Teigen and Lidal are all names that tell history of another life only a generation away.

The boattrip on the Fjærlandsfjord is a beautilful experience

The Norwegian Glacier Museum
The principal aims of the Norwegian Glacier Museum are to collect, create and disseminate knowledge about snow, ice and glaciers by highlighting the interplay of people and their environment through films, interaktive models, individual experiments and tours to the Jostedal Glacier.
